Affirmative Counseling and Psychological Services, LLC is a Black, Queer, Woman Owned Mental Health Private Practice that provides counseling and psychological services to clients throughout the state of Florida. Under the gaze of social justice, inclusivity and authenticity we hope to meet each individual at their present places of struggle, distress, and/or pain in addition to celebrating in their successes and triumphs as they embrace the constant change of life's many mysteries.
We offer services to all individuals though specialize in working with Queer, Black and POC populations around issues such as identity development including intersectionality of identity and other parts of self, relationship challenges, work-life balance and career struggles, as well as healing from trauma. We recognize that these issues often manifest with symptoms of anxiety, depression, addiction, grief, sleep issues, and poor relationships with food, all areas that we assist individuals in understanding better, coping with, and managing in positive ways. Our primary goal is to discuss ways in which a person is feeling limited in their current place in life and help them get to a place where they feel they can thrive and be their best selves.
Though located in Gainesville, FL our client base is state-wide serving clients throughout Florida via Telehealth.

WHAT WE DO
Traditional Counseling Services
A place to tend to symptoms of anxiety and depression as well as trauma, grief and loss, identity development, and major life transitions.
Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFT)
Helping you and your partner navigate cycles of tension and distress in your relationship working toward increased intimacy and connection with each other.
Eye Movement Desensitization and and Reprocessing (EMDR)
A form of psychotherapy that helps people heal from symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia
(CBT-I)
A structured 4-6 session therapy protocol to improve one's sleep habits when their normative sleep pattern has been disrupted for more than a few weeks.
Consulting and Supervision
We provide supervision to mental health trainees for licensure. We also provide consultation on topics of wellness, self-care and balance in the workplace, as well as gender and sexuality related interests

Hi, I'm Angela. I am a Licensed Psychologist and owner of Affirmative Counseling and Psychological Services. I support individuals who describe pain as feelings of loneliness and disconnection from self and others without a clear understanding of why. I help people uncover the parts of their lived experience that have contributed to feelings of low self-esteem and low self-worth and help them work toward feeling valued and whole.
